"Let It Float"

Let it rise, let it float,
You always held out too much hope,
Couldn’t see things for what they were,
Could be better, could be worse,
Does it whither, does it shine,
In the light of truth beyond our grasp?
Let go of what you hold so tight
Let it live, or die, in its own right
Let it rise, let it float,
Let go of everything you thought,
Don’t be so attached to how it ends,
Let it rise, let it float,
Let go of everything you thought,
Just let go without, “It all depends...”
Way too late to hedge your bets,
Cuts clear through your safety nets,
So that you can see a bigger plan,
So much clearer than from where it all began,
But you’ll never know, til you
Let it rise, let it float,
You always held out too much hope,
Don’t assume you know the way
Let go of what you hold so tight
Let it live, or die, in its own right
More real, more life, less limitations,
Can’t depend on your static situations,
We live in ever-changing reality,
Not controlled by you, or me, or self-pity
Let it rise, let it float,
You always held out too much hope,
Don’t waste your time resuscitating
     your prize horse
evidently wasn’t meant to stay the course,
Just walk away, and you’ll live to ride
                               another day

Let go of what you hold so tight
Let it live, or die, in its own right

Let it rise, let it float,
Let go of all that you assume,
And as you reevaluate
           your life
Will resume
